1.      What clothes do I choose for the balloon ride?

Basically, it is no colder in the basket of a balloon than on the ground. Due to the gas burner, it could even get a little warmer than on the ground. So choose your clothes as you would for a walk. Sturdy shoes are essential - avoid high heels, flip-flops, etc.

2.      Is there an age limit for ballooning?

No – there is no general age limit. Height is important for children. The usual balloon baskets are 110cm high. In order to be able to look over the basket, we recommend a minimum height of 120cm. There is also no maximum age for ballooning. Basically, a balloon ride is not dangerous - only when landing it can get a little rough.

3.      Is it possible to plan the route of a balloon flight?

No - the hot air balloon is controlled exclusively by the wind, which means that a previously planned route cannot be followed. The pilot's only option is to influence the altitude. By using different altitudes and their possibly changing wind directions, he is able to exert a certain degree of influence on the direction.

4.      What does the exclusive starting place have to look like? What conditions must be given?

- not in a nature reserve
 - not in a densely built-up and inhabited area - not near a motorway / main road (500m) - must be at least 50x50 m in size - no obstacles on the site itself (bushes, lanterns, trees, ...) - passable by car + trailer
 - no major obstacles around the site (overhead power lines, rows of poplars, chimneys, wind turbines, ...) - verbal approval from the property owner or tenant

5.      How high can you go in a hot air balloon?

A hot air balloon ride usually takes place at an altitude of 300 to 3000 meters. When crossing the Alps, the balloon can sometimes exceed 3000 meters. Technically, however, there is “no” upper limit.

6.      How far can a hot air balloon go?

Depending on the wind speed and direction, a distance of 5 to 30 km can be covered.

7.      How fast does a hot air balloon go?

The speed of the balloon depends on the wind speed. If the surface wind is blowing at more than 5 m/s, it is hardly possible to raise the balloon safely. So this is the limit for most balloon rides.

8.      Can I go ballooning if I'm afraid of heights?

Yes - even if you are afraid of heights, you can take part in a balloon ride - there is no fear of heights on a hot air balloon ride. The reason for this is that there is no fixed connection to the ground from the balloon basket. There are therefore no "falling" lines and therefore no optical distortions that lead to fear of heights. Similar to an airplane, there are no problems with dizziness or fear of heights when flying in a balloon.

9.      Can pregnant women take part in a balloon flight?

The balloon ride itself is absolutely harmless. However, there can be a bit of a rumble when landing. We therefore do not make any recommendations - to be on the safe side, you can contact your family doctor.

10.   Can I take part in a balloon flight with a wheelchair or as a wheelchair user?

Yes - some providers have a basket with an extra door. Thus, the wheelchair can be loaded. Please get in touch with us.

11.   Is there a minimum age for balloon rides?

In general, there is no minimum age. Children can take part in the balloon flight if they are taller than 1.20 m and are mature enough to follow the balloonist's instructions. However, there are also providers who set a minimum age - you can find detailed information on this under the conditions of the respective offer.
12.   How is a balloon ride?

Basically, most balloon rides are similar. Meeting point at the agreed starting point - building the hot air balloon together - balloon ride - landing - dismantling the balloon - transfer back to the starting point - champagne baptism and awarding of certificates

13.   How safe are balloon rides?

Ballooning is one of the safest modes of transport in the world, making it extremely safe. The hot air balloons are subject to regular checks and controls. The pilots are in constant contact with the local weather authorities. Take-off is only permitted if take-off, travel and landing can be guaranteed to be safe.

14.   Are spectators allowed at takeoff or landing?

Spectators are welcome - both at take-off and landing. The safety distance to the balloon must of course be guaranteed.

15.   How do I get an appointment?

In your request, you state your desired date and any alternative dates. If your desired dates are not possible, we will send you further alternative dates. If you have any further questions, we can be reached by phone.

16.   Can I take photos and videos during the balloon ride?

Of course – record as many of your impressions as possible. A number of balloon providers also offer professional photo and video recordings.

17.   How many people take part in a balloon flight?

Depending on the provider, the number of participants may vary. In most cases, the number of passengers is between 5 and 7 people.
